RV Proposal for Eastons Beach
12. December 2009 by admin.
The city may once again be considering an RV park at Easton’s Beach. The city is looking for ways to generate much needed income and they should be applauded for that but an RV park at Easton’s Beach is not the way to do it. This ran into so much opposition when it came up nine months ago that it was shelved pretty quickly. Perhaps they think we have short memories.
This is not a good idea for the city and the income generated will be minimal and could potentially drive away tourists and visitors to Newport who drive down 13. As they cross the border from Middletown to Newport, the first site they will get to savor is that of an RV park on a beautiful stretch of beach.

Where Have All the Bricks Gone?
8. December 2009 by admin.
Has anyone noticed the missing bricks behind the Court House and the Colony House? I’m just wondering why they were removed and paved over. While I admit the road surface was in bad shape, the city should have repaired the roadway rather than removing all the brick and laying down new asphalt.
While lower Touro Street from Thames on up to the Opera House Theater looks absolutely beautiful, this project should have been contiued up to the Spring Street intersection. This section of road has to be one of the worst in the city while at the same time one of the most visible.

Hello Newport Hill Residents
25. November 2009 by admin.
We are just trying this out as a way of spreading the word about activities, concerns or events affecting the residents of Newport, Rhode Island’s Historic Hill District. I am not sure where this will go yet as it is my first blog entry. My hope is that we will continue to serve the residents of the Hill by using all means available too us.
